I’m on the road a lot more than usual. I hate the traffic, I’m not used to it and especially during rush hour. Even the short trips can sometimes stress me out. There are days it scares the hell out of me. The scariest for me is at night. Any night. Especially in South Florida where the night life is a pretty big deal and technology is used everywhere you turn including the roads.
Cars are such an incredible invention, heavy machinery with a human being controlling its every movement. With the ability to twist and turn and move as fast as the driver demands, cars can be the most incredible invention or the death of you. It seems often times I am driving it’s during rush hour. When I say rush hour I am not kidding, sometimes its crazy and I want to kiss the ground once I arrive to my destination . Too many times while sitting at an intersection I see some of the smartest people doing really dumb things. Texting, speeding and drivers on the back-end of the car ahead of them.
As drivers we have the obligation to act responsible and not threaten someone else’s life…you do it every time you text, make a phone call, drive under the influence and of course when you drive recklessly. When I share the road with you, my life is in your hands. Wake UP…What are you doing? STOP IT Yes, I sound bitchy, deal with it, its my life!
I have a real problem with sharing the road with folks that are in a hurry. Speeding because THEY need to get somewhere fast. You know what, leave your house earlier take a different route. Just because you are running late does not give you the right to jeopardize my life or anyone elses. That’s selfish. Your reckless driving could change people’s lives. Not in a good way. The possibility of paralysis, death or some one could end up in a vegetative state is possible and all caused because you had to get somewhere and you were late. All it takes is a split second and life could change and not in a good way.
It shocks me and really gets me upset when I see someone texting and driving, it’s not just for the teenagers. I see mature adults texting and driving too. Shame on you really, have you not read enough tragic stories or watched enough videos to convince you to stay off your phone? Remember your lack of awareness on the road could cost someone their life or possibly yours. What’s it gonna take? Slamming into another car or tree? Just remember you share the road with a lot of people. People who are special to someone else, most likely driving home to get on with the best part of their lives. How selfish you are to text and/or talk. Please rethink again.
Driving under the influence. My..my..are you stupid? No you’re just plain self-absorbed and foolish. To think you have the right to drive on the roads in your drunken state. You think it’s a DUI that you need to worry about. Phhhh, that’s nothing. How about prison for manslaughter or not being able to use your legs ever again. Imagine if your careless behavior killed someone on the road, the jail part will be a breeze compared to carrying a burden like that around for the rest of your life. Let’s not forget the other people you would impact because of your life threatening actions. When you commit this act, you are breaking the law but more importantly risking other people’s lives. I respect the law, fellow drivers and the road, why can’t you do the same. Walk, take a cab or call someone to pick you up. Spare my life and others and do the right thing.
These types of offenses often trigger the feeling of regret, I shoulda, woulda, coulda, if only, why…
If you took offense to this, ask yourself why? If you want to know who the hell do I think I am? I am the women who always drives sober, I would sleep in my car before driving drunk. I am also the woman who does not text while driving and does not pick up the phone while I am on the road. Battling traffic is hard enough when you are truly focused on the road because you never know how responsible the drivers around you are. I have been known to sit in a parking lot and chat rather than risk my fellow drivers life!
I love life…so I am asking you..please think twice about your actions.
“A texting driver is 23 times more likely to get into a crash than a non-texting driver.”
