A Mid-Year Crisis or Adjustment?

A Mid-Year Crisis or Adjustment?

The year has flown by and we are about to enter the 2nd half of the year.  For financial purposes..its time to take a look at your numbers.   Mid-year is a good time to give you business a once over.

problem solving

If you are  commissioned based it would be smart to take a look at your numbers and ask yourself a few questions:

Are my numbers where they are supposed to be year to date?

  • Expenses
  • Budget
  • Income
  • Inventory
  • Services

If not, now is the time to make adjustments and adjust your goals and as you look at these important aspects of business, ask yourself

Am I offering…

  • Value
  • Quality
  • Incredible Service

What are my weaknesses and strengths?

Now is the time to review your goals and make adjustments accordingly.  The biggest budget doesn’t necessarily generate the most revenue..if you want people to keep coming back and recommending your services via word of mouth..I wouldn’t review just the numbers.   The most valuable and effective form of marketing…is word of mouth!

Be A Better Salesperson!

Be A Better Salesperson!

Its never enough to be good in this competitive world. As a matter of fact what I have found that in most cases by being good you produce mediocre results.

While we all strive to be the best..I think it’s best to be better than what you were yesterday!  So many people want the secrets…the deep dark secrets of being a successful salesperson but in truth its really pretty easy…

  • Treat your business as a business
  • Know your product and/ or services
  • Be proud of what you do and prospect…prospect…prospect!
  • Treat people the way you want to be treated
  • Provide a solution to your customers needs
  • Be flexible with the flexible world
  • Think we rather than I and the money will follow
  • Be straightforward, honest and mindful in what you say and do
  • Say what you will do and then do it!
  • Lip service may get you through the door but action will make things happen
  • Service first and the money will follow
  • Learn from your mistakes rather than beat yourself up!

Dare to be great but better yet be better than yesterday!

Kids Are Great Salespeople!

Yes I Gave Them Money-Midori Miller

Yes I Gave Them Money-Midori Miller

Sales is the oldest profession around as a matter of fact everyone has sales skills from the time they are born.  As a baby we had needs…to be fed…diapers changed and to feel comfortable.

A good cry would probably get someone to pick you up and take care of one of your needs.  At the end the baby was sleeping peacefully.   We learn that early on…

As we grow up..we learn how to get our way or attempt numerous times to get our way by trying different methods.  As a kid if we really wanted something or needed something…we were relentless and open to try different methods to get what we want.

As a kid NO was not important!  Someone just misunderstood!

On most occasions as a child we won.  By tears…by reasoning…or by just being plain cute!

As an adult it is not different but something happens to us when we become adults.   We still have needs but fear rejection.  We want to do it but sometimes we give up to soon or something holds us back from what we need to do.   As salespeople it really isn’t different.   As salespeople we can be so quick to quit or take the very first no and in most cases as a child that would never happen!

I think its safe to say…adults could learn a thing or two from children.

Children are:

  • Relentless and little things do not stop a child
  • Children prove that sales is an emotional event
  • For kids on many occasions NO means try one more time!
  • Children are creative and will try many different ways

If you are in sales learn a wide variety of objection handling…give many reasons why someone would benefit from your services and why they need your services but most of all when you feel you cannot get what you need…take a moment and maybe think of a child like way to approach the situation…and that doesn’t mean cry…instead as a salesperson try once more and be creative and present your services in a different way!

When I think of it young children have selling down to a science!  Selling is a numbers game.…lots of No’s equate to eventually a yes or several!
